Collect Google Customer (Merchant) Reviews after checkout

Google Customer Reviews is a free tool that lets businesses collect post-purchase feedback through a one-question survey.

To activate Google Customer Reviews, add a checkout extension to the Thank You and Order Status pages in the Checkout Editor.

How to add and set up a checkout extension

  1. Navigate to the “Collect reviews” tab in the app settings

  2. Click “+ Add checkout extension”

  3. Click “Add app block” and select Google Reviews "Ask for review" widget.

  4. Customize the widget to your business needs

  5. Add Google Merchant ID and specify Average delivery days

  6. Save changes

Stars decide what happens next

Now, customers will see a review request on "Thank you" & "Order status" immediately after completing their purchase.

Based on the star rating the customer selects, they’re either redirected to a confirmation page to opt in for a short post-order survey (for 5-star ratings) or shown a custom feedback form (for 1–4 stars).

If 5 stars are selected, customers are redirected to the confirmation page with an option to opt in to the Google Customer Reviews program.

Customers who opt in will be sent an email, which is managed by Google, asking them to rate their experience. This rating is then aggregated to become the Seller Rating.

How to analyze reviews?

In the app, you will see the table that with the total number of clicks on the widget, not the number of actual reviews on Google. Here's how the process works:

  • Customer clicks the widget and selects a star rating.

  • If they select 5 stars, they are redirected to a confirmation page to opt in for a short post-order survey from Google.

  • If they select 1-4 stars, the feedback form opens.

  • All clicks are still tracked and visible in your dashboard, regardless of whether a review is submitted.

If you want to collect reviews after the product is delivered or use promo codes to increase review volume, try our Customer Reviews app. It can send review requests to multiple platforms at once—like Google, Trustpilot, and more.
