# Collect Google Business Reviews after checkout

Ask customers to leave a Google Business review right on the **Thank You & Order Status** pages while the purchase is still fresh in their mind. No extra emails required.

### Why ask for reviews at checkout? <a href="#why" id="why"></a>

The checkout confirmation page is the highest-intent moment in the customer journey. The experience is fresh, satisfaction is high, and the customer is already in an active mindset. Reviews collected at this point tend to be more positive and arrive faster than those requested by email days later.

### How to add the checkout extension <a href="#setup" id="setup"></a>

1. Open `Collect reviews.` Go to **Apps → Reputon Google Reviews**, then click the **Collect reviews** tab.
2. Click `+ Add checkout extension.`This opens **Shopify's Checkout Editor** directly.
3. Click `Add app block` and select the Google Reviews widget. In the Checkout Editor sidebar, find **Google Reviews – Ask for review** under App blocks and add it to the Thank You / Order Status page.
4. `Customize the widget.`Adjust the headline, button text to match your brand.
5. Save and publish your changes.

### How the review flow works

After checkout, customers see the star-rating widget on the Thank You page. Their selection determines what happens next:

### Understanding your dashboard  <a href="#dashboard" id="dashboard"></a>

The dashboard shows **widget clicks**, not the number of published Google reviews. Here's why those numbers differ and what each one means:

### Why clicks and Google reviews don't match <a href="#gap" id="gap"></a>

It's normal to see more clicks in your dashboard than actual reviews on Google. This gap happens because:

* The customer clicked 5 stars but **closed the Google tab** before submitting.
* The customer **doesn't have a Google account** or isn't signed in.
* Google may **filter or delay** some reviews as part of its spam detection.
* The customer changed their mind after clicking.

A typical conversion rate from 5-star click to published review is **30–60%**, depending on your audience. This is normal and consistent with industry benchmarks.
